The real question is "why is everything I like "unhealthy"...seems to be true for me..

Actually many messages about food are wrong. Potatoes are a healthy vegetable...but it's what get's put on it that is unhealthy, or how it is cooked...like deep fried. Bananas do have more calories....just don't eat too many of them...and pick bread that is high fiber...lots of whole grains...then you can take the fiber count off of the carb count ....better for you.

Eating everything in balance is the key....I'll tell you when I learn how to "do" it and not just talk about it!

When you are born, you begin a life cycle that ultimately ends in death. You must consume food in order to live the cycle. Food that is good for you will help you maintain a longer life cycle provided you are careful crossing the street and are aware of other life threatening dangers and can skillfully avoid them. Food that is bad for you is a matter of choice. If it kills you at once it is definitely bad for you. If it tastes good and does no immediate harm it's probably OK but may be bad for you in the long run. There are so many food guidelines as to be confusing and one needs to decide what they want. A long and boring life munching berries and rice or a moderate length life enjoying food you like in moderation. Not too many people live as long as they wish to and I don't believe their diet has a lot to do with it. Moderation is the key. A steak now and then will make you happy, Corn is nice too. The fact is, all the food companies are after the "Health Freak" dollars and they'll tell you anything to get you to buy their brand of the same things you eat anyway but at a premium price.

No, not carrots all the time-they have a lot of sugar for a veggie!

I eat potatoes, bread and bananas. They are natural and wholesome foods. No need to get all crazy! I eat one banana, a small potato and very nutricious bread-not the whole loaf.

As long as the foods you eat provide reasonable sources of nutrition and you don't overdo it on calories...the fad diets are for the hyper who want to jump from one "study" to the next to appease their boredom.

I totally get you. I'm having this kind of thought too. Suddenly everything is not healthy and it kindda frustates me. I'm not overweight but I'm trying to eat healthy but it's getting harder. I like manggo, banana and watermelon, nowadays they are considered too sweet. I even consume my soy milk and oatmeal without sugar at all. Not to mention avoid salt. Welcome to the tasteless healthy world. With all the "junk" food so easily available with great taste and good value, the good healthy food suddenly became rare, expensive and even with good ingreadients, we have to think hard and make extra effort to make it decent and healthy, especially for me with no time and zero cooking skill. My bad, I guess we just got to be creative with what we could eat and excercise more. :)

For the most part, if you exercise you can eat just about anything. It's just a matter of burning more than your intake. One thing that is supose to be good is green tea. I found some interesting facts on it if you want to check it out.

Because you have a bunch of lunatic crazies writing the rules. For them proper nutrition involves more than food molecules , it involves life-style choices, political beliefs, and big agribusiness/ big government food conspiracies.
The "nutrition crazies " adopt what is essentially a "Dune " mentality when they establish their healthy/ unhealthy baseline. According to the starvation response model they use in order for a food to be considered" healthy " every possible nutrient the food contains must be available to the end user. To waste a nutrient is considered to be crime and therefore foods and cooking methods that waste nutrients will be considered to be unhealthy.
Take an empirical approach to food selection and learn to recognize propaganda when you see it.
