This is a procedure that basically fuses the neck to the head so to speak. It's for people who have severe spinal problems i.e. Scoliosis, Spondylosis etc. Once the bones are fused together the head cannot turn from side to side. I have a friend who was in pain for many years due to spinal problems and she eventually had this operation done. It took her approx' 3 months to recover but she is now pain free. She say's the loss of movement in her neck was awkward at first but she now drives a car without difficulty. If you have been offered this op' due to spinal problems, I'd get the specialist to explain it all thoroughly to you so you know exactly what to expect.

Do you mean Ankylosing? If so...

What is ankylosing spondylitis?

Ankylosing spondylitis is a form of chronic inflammation of the spine and the sacroiliac joints. The sacroiliac joints are located in the low back where the sacrum (the bone directly above the tailbone) meets the iliac bones (bones on either side of the upper buttocks). Chronic inflammation in these areas causes pain and stiffness in and around the spine. Over time, chronic spinal inflammation (spondylitis) can lead to a complete cementing together (fusion) of the vertebrae, a process referred to as ankylosis. Ankylosis leads to loss of mobility of the spine.

I am not much for surgery consider this instead (or at least first)...
Muscles can have knots (trigger points) that make them tight which in turn put pressure on nerves and other things causing pain.
Molasses - a couple of swigs or Bananas 1 or 2 - both contain magnesium and potassium for muscles.
Try working with the principles taught in The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.
I use a chiropractor and massage therapist with it

It sounds like the nerve track from the spine to the brain. I know that the skull bone connects to the... neck bone. The neck bone connects to the... shoulder bone. The shoulder bone connects to the... big bone.
