It seems that your computers Java Configurations are not setup properly. follow the steps below in order to enable Java:

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click on the "Tools" menu option and select "Internet Options" from the drop down menu.
3. Click on the "Security" tab.
4. For the "Internet" option, ensure that the "Security" level is set to Medium or below.
5. Click on the "Custom Level" button.
6. ensure that the "Java permissions" option under the "Java VM" option is not set to "Disable Java".
7. Click on "OK" and then click on the "Advanced" tab. Scroll down until you see the sub-heading "Java VM". Check the boxes next to "Java logging enabled" and "Java console enabled".

Note that if you have checked the box next to "Java JIT compiler enabled" and are experiencing freezing problems, uncheck that box.

I found a Java entry in Control Panel that let me schedule the updates once a month. There was a button whereby you can request that it update now. You should get Update 11. I am not anywhere near "computer literate", but it worked for me.
