there never used to be ? What did you do about it ? Ignore it ? Talk it over ? I'm in my 30's...not a teenager.

Yeah I feel like that. And it's wierd too. How do you live with someone for 18 yrs and feel like you don't know them at all? My dad wasn't always there, and we have a huge wall between us. We are just polite to each other most of the time. But we're trying. Just today I told him I would like to get together once a month for lunch or something, and take it slow.

I believe it's a lack of communication issue that causes this, or a big change in ones life. Don't ignore it, do something that will bring you closer together, and get over the awkward stage. Like all going out to dinner and a movie, or having a dinner at home with your parents. I've had to deal with this numerous times. My brother and I are very close. Every night for the past 3 years we talk and catch up eat a snack together, then when he got a girlfriend it changed, and I had also moved out. I felt like I lost my brother. I mentioned it to him, and after a while we found ways to get over it and find a way to still have our random talks. You need to find an activity that will bring you all closer together.

Good luck,

-.-'

I have found to have those feeling allot but about my grown kids. I know they love me but sometime I feel guilty like am i seeing one more that the other. They are 29, 26 24 So when I feel like that I call them up and chat. Or leave a message to have them call me back to chat and that I miss them. I feel disconnected from allot of people but I try to get past that and it is very hard but I call them ( Better that a face to face) If they answer then a face to face. Hope that helps Make the first move someone has too

Yes, though I have never been close to my family. Relationships develop I guess and it can be confusing. I should have made more of an effort when I was younger, but feel it's too late now. I'm only in my 20's, but that's how I feel. Maybe you could try talking about it or doing things with your family one-to-one.

I have felt that way before. I suggest that you ask them if you have offended them in any way. It may be a big or a small situation but clear it up. One of my cousins was a little upset with me b/c she said I got her in trouble a lot when we were little. I don't even remember that. But anyway, I apologized and we are a lot better. I know that she loves me.
