Smile and say no thanks. You don't owe him an explanation.
If he asks again, act as if you don't hear the question.

The direct approach has always been helpful. Just tell him that hey, Im flattered you want to go out with me to drinks-- But Im not interested in hanging out with you outside of work. Or say your not comfortable with his approaching you in that manner of asking you out for drinks and if the polite way doesnt work and he is an absolute total MORON tell him to KICK ROCKS AND POUND PAVEMENT and leave you the hell alone......

Just say so, politely. If you do not EVER date co-workers (like me) say that you do not believe in dating co-workers. I assume that is what he means when he asks you out for drinks.

No thank you.... that's all, you should not have to explain yourself...if you are not interested you are not interested! If you beat around the bush all the time, it will make things worst. He will soon think you are interested in him.

I really appreciate the invite but I just want to be co-workers. I don't mix business with pleasure.

Tell him that you are flattered that he likes you but you just do not feel the same about him and you are sorry. Take care Heather
