Medication such as Xanax, Buspar, Prozac, Paxil seem to be the most effective. If you are looking for alternatives try Accupuncture which can pretty effective. It really worked for me. Meditation, visualization, and breathing exercises work as well. Also try over the counter Valerian root mixed with Hops. There is a manufacturer that makes a product Hops Valerian which is pretty effective but you have to use 4 or 5 at at time. It depends on how severe your panic attacks are. The Hops Valerian worked for me during pregnancy when I could not use Xanax due to the risk of birth defects. Some people also swear by the herb - Kava Kava but it did nothing for me. Good luck!

Meditation really does work. Theres mp3's you can download off itunes and play when your having one. General health, stress, depression, and anxiety are all related. So if you excercise more and it relieve stress make you less depressed and thus curb your panic attacks. Thats not to say that you will still never have them but if your less stressed and depressed they wont happen as often.

This sounds weird, but when I first started having panic attacks (and after I figured out they would not kill me) I started breathing into a paper bag when I felt one coming on. Mine were generally accompanied by hyperventilation. I still hyperventilate sometimes and when I feel it, I just hold my breath for maybe 30 seconds and I feel better.

My Advice is give your anxiety and worries to Jesus! Know God loves you! He wants you to learn to trust him when things in life get you down! Look to God and Jesus to Supply your needs and Give Thanks to them when they answer your needs. The Bible says: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:6-7) Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6-7) Do you know that God loves you so much that he gave his one and only Son Jesus to the cross, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life! (John 3:16) Know that every time you feel any situation is to much for you, it is never to much for Jesus. I would encourage you to start a relationship with him by reading the word of God (the Bible) beginning with the Gospel of John. So, no matter what voices in your head bring you fear and anxiety, you will how do handle it with faith and thanksgiving!
