My cat likes to eat alot. I feed her a can of catfood everyday and also eats the dry cat food often too. Sometimes, I give her cat treats. At nights, when I'm sleeping, she would go through the garbage can and only eat the chicken and leave the bones all over the floor.

What is your diagnose? I think she has tapeworm in her intestine. If not, maybe she has high metabolism..

I have a skinny kitten. She did have tapeworms. You can get her checked by a vet for intestinal parasites. Other things that might cause it could be a high metabolism. My cat is now clear of worms, and has been, but she is so hyper, and she just has a high metabolism.

The other thing is could be is hyperthyroid disorder. This is more common is older cats, but it can happen in younger cats. The first complaint is usually 'eats like crazy, just can't get enough food, but still losing weight' So as long as she is not LOSING weight, I wouldn't worry.

Good Luck with your kitty!!

Just like everyone else i too sugest taking your cat to the vet. But I have a cat That is skinny and has been skinny ever since I got her as a kitten. She is now about seven years old. When she was about a year old she got pregnant and even then she was skinny and you couldn't tell that she was expecting. So a high matabalism is possible. I feed my cat all the time but she never gets fat. Some cats are just like people, eat what they want and never have to worry about gaining an thing

You should have this poor kitty vet checked. If she is eating everything in sight and drinking a lot this is a BIG sign of diabetes, worms, or a thyroid problem. Check her stools and urine to make sure they are normal this could also be another key in her diagnosis. If you can't get her to the vet right away try changing her cat food, a more high quality or high fat dry cat food is best for her and don't give her milk.

Sounds like it's time to visit the vet. I'm mostly worried as you say she is going through the garbage. You seem to be feeding her enough.
I have an older cat who is surprisingly skinny, but she is 16 years old. Since she is a Persian I had no idea she was as thin as she was until they had to shave her this past summer. She eats a lot, but is still extremely skinny and has started eating a lot, but is healthy, it is just her age. It may be that your cat is getting older that she is skinny and eating a lot. You didn't say how old your cat is. But, never hurts to go to the vet. Taking care of your cat should be top of your list.

You should take her to your vet and have her checked for worms. I rescued a cat about 6 months ago. I spent a fortune on her getting her checked out and running all kinds of test on her thyroid and tons of other stuff. She eats like crazy. Canned and dry cat food. She is still very thin. My vet couldn't find anything wrong with her. She said they call some cats "poor doers" because they just don't gain weight. I would have a physical done though before you decide that's she a poor doer on your own. Good luck to you and your kitty! (-:

Parasites in her intestines is a very good guess. She should have a full checkup and take a stool sample along for the vet to check. There are other medical conditions that could be causing this problem that a checkup would solve. Good luck.

Maybe she has a high metabolism. Is she fixed? Because it seems like most cats stay skinny until they get fixed, then they tend to fill out more. It wouldn't hurt to ask the vet about it either.

It could be something of what she's eating. Some cat food could have some ingredients that are not really healthy for the cat.
