Well it kinda depends on the type of dog. A chihwawa (l0l) is only supposed to have 1-2, but a labrador may have 5-7. so it kinda depends on dog breed. But also the sperm probably only ferilized 2 eggs. Sometimes that happens.
Good luck with you new puppy. Whenever and if you get it!! :)

Is he in basic terms smaller/runt of the clutter or did he have an exceptionally tough start up in existence requiring supplemenation with the help of the breeder? If he has continually been a reliable puppy yet in basic terms smaller then the others he would be positive. If he struggled to stay in the commencing up there could be some matters later on. yet no longer continually. How lots tips? in basic terms help as much as the nipple? Or might he have died without 24 hour around the clock help from the breeder?

The size of the litter should not reflect upon the quality of the puppies. There are so many variables. I would insist upon a vet certificate before paying for and taking home your new puppy. Also be sure to examine it for things such as a runny nose, watery or "goopy" eyes, any sniffing or sneezing. Good luck with your new best friend.

Not necessarily, different breeds can have different amounts of puppies in their litters. Look up the breed and try to find out how many puppies that kind of dog usually has in a litter.

It depends on the breed of the dog~ usually small dogs have fewer puppies than larger breeds. However, I have a friend who's mastiff came from great lines and she was froma litter of 18 (all of which survived) and her first litter was one puppy. So I guess it all depends.

even if the dog is a large breed tended to large litters, if only two puppies were born it could mean that the stud was older, or the mom only had puppies on one side of her uterus, something like a yorkie or brussels griffon would be very normal to only have two pups,
and did she say only two were born? or two survived? because that too happens and its not a sign that anything is wrong nessacarily

Not at all. Some breeds trend toward small litters, some breeds trend to large litters. And within each breed, every ***** has her own 'chemistry'. Nothing that the breeder can control at all, or should try to control.
Enjoy the little critters!

It's not bad to have a small litter. Not a bad breeder, not a bad mommy, and pup health should be assessed by your vet. DO allow the pups to stay with mom until they are 10 weeks old....the IDEAL age to be adopted. (8 at the VERY LEAST!)

It really depends on the breed. But think about it... Males have MILLIONS of sperms, Females only release so many eggs. So have you ever thought maybe its your dog, not the breeders dog?
