My seven year old son woke up about 4 days ago complaining about pain in his left upper leg/inner thigh (adductor muscle region). I dismissed the pain as possibly "growing pains", or a minor injury that he may have incurred the previous day. He didn't mention the pain again until this evening at bedtime. This time he is complaining about the same area but that the pain is much more intense. He told me that he has been trying to ignore the pain in his leg but that it is now getting worse, and to the point he can no longer bend his leg upward toward his chest without screaming and crying in pain. I know that the pain is very intense for him, because he screams and tears immediately begin rolling out of his eyes. He recalls no injury in the past that may have attributed to this pain. The skin in the area shows no signs of trauma or injury, and there are no red marks or signs of clotting. What could be wrong with him, and should this be seen by his pediatrician immediately?

If he is crying in pain of course you should take him to the Dr. Does he play any sports that could have caused a pulled muscle? Or what about rough housing with some friends at school recess. He probably just can't think of anything he has done different because he is still a young age and it wouldn't seem important to him.

When my kids were small one of their friends had somthing like this. It turned out that since the boy was so skinny, he didn't have enough fat around the joints in his hip. He was stuck in bed for months and they had to try to put weight on him. It was from the ball joint rubbing against his hip bone or something like that. This needs to be taken to the doc immediately or you can ruin the ball joint part in the upper leg. They need to x-ray it and find out. Please don't wait. The kid was in extreme pain from it. It was a matter of he just needed to put some weight on. But you MUST be seen by a doc for this to make sure there is not damage already. Otherwise he will end up with extreme walking problems and could end up in wheelchair for life. The boy was maybe .....well. First grade. Whatever age that is. I think maybe 7 or 8. Good luck. Hope I helped.

well... i don't know about our son, but I've had nearly that same problem, with excruciating pain, and I had a torn groin muscle. If that is the case, then he needs to go to a doctor soon so he can get some pain pills or anti inflammatory pills... however, I don't even know if i've ever heard of a seven year old with an injured groin... that's all I would think it would be

Your doing a great activity from the sound of it. It additionally feels like your getting greater powerful outcomes. I do think of that a one million/2 hour on the naughty step is alittle plenty for a 6 year old, yet i'm no longer his mom.

i've heard of one case like this, although i'm not sure, I remember that in TX there was a large number of boys getting problems around that region. the main reason being that these boys were using an electrical object (massage machine, electronic ab belt) to masturbate....who knows though it could be anything...I'm just taking a guess...after you go to the pediatrician give us all an update k

He might have RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) I have had it. Take your son to the doctor right away if it happens any more. Even tonight. Try to give him asprin or tylenol. It might help him ease the pain. Even try a Warm towel in between his legs or even cold. whichever he prefers. I wish you the best!!! Take care. I will pray for your son :)

You just never know. It sounds like growing pains, but I would take him in just to be safe, he could have an infection, or who knows what, but if he is in that much pain, I would get it checked out, just to be safe. Try calling your local hospital and ask to speak to the on-call nurse, and see what they recommend.
