most likley they have the gain cranked and there subs RMS is rated higher than the amps so the amp has to run all out all the time just to try to power the subs and it still isn`t getting the job done. And also another problem they might have is their alternator and battery are not supplieing the amp with enough power so it is straighing even harder to get the power to the subs. or they could also be running the amp at an OHM rating that it is not stable at which would overheat the amp also. Or they could just be stupid and have there subs pounding for hours on end, i don`t know if the amp has a cooling fan and if it does if it is very good or not so if they were running it for hours on end it could over heat. see there are a lot of options that could cause the overheating just make sure you aren`t doing any of them. good luck.

The problem is people don't understand the difference of wiring methods and impedances. These people try and squeeze "blood from a turnip" so to speak.

Sony amps are very durable if loaded properly. I've had my 1200 watt for several years without any overheating. This is mainly due to the fact my gains are set correctly and I'm only loading each channel at 4 ohms.

My amp is 200 watts RMS X 2 and my subs are 200 watts RMS each @ 4 ohm.

Alot of people dont want to take the time to plan there instal so they end up congesting there amp and without enough air any strong amp will overheat. Make sure you have plenty of airflow around your Xplod and you will be fine.

personally no one really likes sony cuz they are not dedicated to the audio as they are in EVERYTHING and they are a cheaper brand. however if u only want some good sound for little money i HAVE heard some pretty good sounding sony systems. if you put everything to spec i think u will be very pleased. i had a sony deck for a long time and the only reason i went to alpine was the mp3/XM.

first of all they poorly maintain there speakers --but yes sometimes the sony amps do over heat very quickly and after a while they like to over heat but if you keep it in a cool place you shouldnt have to replace it for about a month or two----when it over heats it will really piss you off---lol----hope i helped
