i want to upgrade from windows xp to windows vista, and the upgrade advisor is asking me that, also i have several softwares for single licences, upon i have upgraded could i be able to re install those softwares?

You can save all you personal files that you created on another media such as floppy disk, DVD, CD, flash drive etc. The other software depends on what it is. If you have the disk, you should be able to install it again. If you have an .exe file that you downloaded that installs a program (such as Yahoo messenger) just save the .exe file as data on another media and double clking it will reinstall the software. Other purchased software (such as Norton) has a limited number of installs. These may cause a problem depending on what they are.
