Help i need to know ...i'm going on a connect flight and i don't know if they put the luggage on the airplane or do i have to pick up the luggage and recheck everything???

is this for a major carrier? is the same airlline?
are you flying domestically or international?
if you are flying international (from a foregin city (say to Lax
but you change planes in New York you will
clear customs and they will inspect you and your baggage
then you have to hand the luggage back to the airline
or
are you taking one carrier and then transfer to southwest?
then you will have claim your luggage from the major carrier
and recheck it with Southwest

Most likely the airline will take care of that. They tag your luggage as "connecting". If you have a chance ask the costumer service rep. of that airline just to make sure that your luggage is on the right plane.

Once the luggage is check, it goes on the connecting flight, then to baggage pickup at the destination airport.
example say you board at Flint International Airport your connecting flight is in Atlanta the carrier (airtran) places your luggage on the that plane in GA then off to Sunny West Palm International Airport, Florida ,where the temperature is a balmy 70 degrees.
only thing that will be check is carry -ons at the gate.(scanners stations ) another tip pack eveything in those space saver bags they work. (for exrta room for stuff you buy on your trip)
