The best support that can ever be given is your personal time. Be it a picknic, child care, or bringing a shift a lasagna for dinner... anything and everything you do will be appreciated. Show up at the local office, and explain what you want to help with and ask how to make it possible. If you are out of ideas, think of what you would do to thank any organization, like a church, or a baseball team. It also never hurts to show up and ask what you can do. Help wash cars, or clean floors... Use your imagination. Ask for a list of names so you can send individual thankyou cards. Or, just show up with your children and say you want to educate your children on public safety and how police are the good guys, while you are there say thankyou in person. Get your church or club to host a lunch... Or, just simply say thankyou. Ideas are limitless!! Best wishes and Good Luck!

I don't know about NY but where I live the City Police can always use volunteers. Two retired men that I know go in a couple of times a week for a couple of hours and help the clerical staff. I don't know everything they do but both have mentioned filing and data entry.

Get convicted of DWI. In New York, the arresting police agency gets a cut of the DWI fine money.

Drive really fast and when they pull you over, offer them a $100 bill.
Just kidding. Call them. They all have charities that help police officers. They will give you the number.

Have the people where you work sign a card for them, or do something like that. It was nice when we got cards from the community, usually around Christmas time thanking us for what we do.
Sometimes they would send cookies or popcorn tins also. But you don't have to.
