If you live anywhere near a dental school, you should look into getting dentures done there if money is a concern. It'll be done correctly (in excruciating detail) with experienced dentist watching over your case.
You may see ads for "bargain dentures" for $300 a set. These places are usually off the highway somewhere. Most of the patients I've talked to are very dissatisfied with these dentures though. They aren't made with a lot of attention to detail, and the fit on the first day is about as good as its going to get. They often skip steps and the fit can be pretty mediocre.

A Denturist. They are much less expensive. If you go to a dentist you are paying the dentist, the lab and the denturist. If you go to a denturist you are going directly to the source. The benefit of going through a dentist is they usally use someone reputable but you will pay more than double. Example - my mom first tried to go through a dentist that wanted $15k but when she ended up finding a really good denturist it was about $3000. Try to get a recommendation from someone and do a background check on denturist for licensing, etc...

Try a college for Dentistry. We have one here in TN that students in training do the work for much cheaper
