It means "He who causes to become"
Jehovah God is the creator, everything else including Jesus were created.
You can know God by his visible works, you know, what He caused to become.
Romans 1:20 reads For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world's creation onward because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship so that they are inexcusable.
It is wrong that false religions want to put Jesus, one of Jehovah's creations, on equal standing with him. Jesus himself knew better and stated many times that his father was greater than he was. He prayed to Jehovah and always strove to sanctify Jehovah's name.
Hope this helps.

Psalms 83:18- That men may know that thou, whose name alone isJEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
The name of God is usually rendered in the KJV as LORD. In EX 6:3; Ps. 83:18 and Is. 12:2, it is JEHOVAH and in GE.23:14 as Jehovah-Jireh, a place name.
Exodus 6: 3 ...but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
When the KJV writes LORD it means JEHOVAH.

The name of God is considered so sacred in Jewish tradition that they would often write it without vowels, YHWH, so they wouldn't profane the name by pronouncing it. They would substitute it with the word Adonai, "the Lord." Jehovah comes from the combination of the consonants of YHWH, or JHWH, with the vowels of Adonai.

If you knew the greatness of G-d, you wouldn't say that word. It's His Name, just englecized and cheapened. But what can you expect, that's what Christians do - cheapen G-d.
