I think they are great tool for telling people how to get saved, and growing in Jesus Christ. Keep handing them out.

Chick tracts are, in general, good, a little over-the-top, a bit dramatic. They are in a comic format, meant to be an illustrative teaching aid in order to present to specific audiences the gospel of Christ.

They are harsh sounding at times because they will present the truth out-of-nowhere. I think that there might be something to the shock-value of such an approach, but it does not always work.

They are especially hated by the Catholics, I believe not because of any lies, but rather because of the truth that they present, and the God that they represent. Personally, concerning this matter, I honestly believe that they do not go far enough in demonstrating just how far some Catholics will go to silence God and His Holy Spirit, and at other times they seem bent on pointing too many fingers. They could be correct, but I suspect sometimes that they look too hard at our own, present time and not enough at the future.

Anyone concerned with truth, the gospel of Christ, and on helping people realize where they are in life, in relation to where God wants them to be, should be fascinated by what is presented in those tracks.

I hand them out often. I get together with my sister, we stand in front of a Walgreen's, and hand out little candy bars to people and then hand them a tract, sometimes Chick tracts, sometimes 4 Spiritual Laws (Campus Crusade for Christ)
I think they are good because people actually read them and it awakens an often sleeping conscience. I prefer to be selective though and avoid some which are unnecessarily confrontational and challenge a specific denomination or what have you. I figure what people need is to know Jesus. Once they accept Him, the Holy Spirit will then begin to lead them into all truth.

Some of the early ones where good. But as he continued to produce them, he revealed more and more of a "hatred" for anyone who disagreed with his believes. For example, it is one thing to question a group such as the Catholics beliefs. It is another to assign evil motives and deliberately deceptive practices to all Catholic priest. (No, I am not Catholic).

It is too bad that he turned from wanting to present the positive about Christ to wanting to destroy some of his followers.

Some of them are good, like the retelling of the prodigal son.
Others are a bit over the top, like the rock music one.

Jack Chick is a raging anti-Catholic bigot.

He's so bad that even other anti-Catholic fundamentalists shun him.

They are pretty bad at depicting how people actually behave/dress/talk. I think it comes mostly from stereotypes in somebody's head.
