My daughter found a lobster looking creature in a man made lake at a local park. The lake is fed by a river. It was red and about 10 inches long, was this a Crayfish or what?

Yes, it's a crayfish. They are also known as crawdads. They are harmless.

In freshwater they are called crayfish. There are crayfish that big and bigger in rivers in Australia and are called 'fresh water lobsters.' Some man near Houston used to sell them to eat or stock ponds with.
