First of all if you were taking any meds previous to this you may be having an allergic reaction. Even if it was a week or 2 previous. There is also a thing where you are allergic to the cold. I just heard about that one recently. You might wanna try the aveeno creams. I know people with exema that use the aveeno stuff and its great. If that doesn't work and you think it IS a fungus you may wanna try lotrimin. The regular one is good. This is for fungus. I know it says feet but pediatricians tell ya to use it on diaper rashes. Maybe you are too dry. Make sure you drink. There was a thing on the weather channel just the other day saying that people tend not to drink as much in the winter and that the heat from the houses and stuff draws the moisture out of your skin and body. They said drink and use a humidifier or vaporizer in the house. Last of all I can only think of this stuff called udder cream. It's in the hand cream section but its what they use on cows for when they udders crack. They've found that it also works extremely well on cracked, weathered hands. There is also a product called bag balm that is for cows too but I think it's medicated. I don't know if that will hurt or not. But people use that one weathered hands too. If you try all this and it doesn't work then I would go to a dermatologist. Good luck. Sounds painful. Hope you feel better quick.
Almost forgot. If you use it at night then put cotton gloves on to hold it on your hands. it helps.

You already should have been back to the doctor who gave you the first prescription. Obviously, the medication is not working for you. Don't stop until you find out what's going on. It's your body and you need to take care of it. You also may need to get a second opinion.

it could be contact dermatitis... something you touch that aggravates the situation... do you wash your hands a lot ot use sanitizer often... if so try not to use the sanitizer and change to a milder soap... if you do dishes wear gloves... you might try wearing white cotton gloves or socks on your hands when your able like at night when you sleep... avoid hot water and keep your hands creamed with a hydro-cortisone prep. seek out a dermatologist for a definitely diagnosis...

sounds like psoriasis...you know what, not all meds work the same on each person, just because they say the cream is the best doesnt mean it wil be the best for you..

maybe you have something systemic that needs oral medications....i would return to the same doctor, tell him this med is ineffective and get something else..if he has no answers get him to refer you to someone that can....you control your own health care, if you are unhappy with one doctor go and see another..
