1. most common side effect is post-operative nausea. incidence is around 25%.
2. sore throat or dental trauma as a result of intubation (insertion of breathing tube in windpipe while unconscious)
3. transient disorientation/delerium
4. almost all anesthetics are respiratory depressants, so there is a risk of hypoventilation and hypoxia
5. risk of hypotension due to vasodilation and cardiac depression
6. malignant hyperthermia (genetically transmitted condition which can cause a potentially fatal reaction to anesthesia) is very rare

The amount of anesthesia might affect you in a way that you might be more drowsy than normal, if given to much. Vomting, Nausea, upset stomach. shivers. But these symptons are very rare.

constipation for 3 to 5 days,depression 3 to 5 days to 6 mos & beyond,because your system is sensitized to plastic,in ivs,tubing,plastic med bags,plastic anything you drink out of,one component of anaesthesia is hydrocarbon alcohol,many plastics will leach off some of this alcohol (a minute amount) or perhaps pthalates.some people go through years of multiple surgeries without difficulty some do experience the above.

Every time I've had general anesthesia, I throw up afterwards. ick.

For me I shake and cough but not all people might not be this way.
