How come curly headed women want straight hair and straight headed women want curly hair. Why not just be happy with what you have?

I'm a curly who wanted straight hair for many years. I thought that it was prettier, more professional, and just easier to take care of.
I now know that every hair type has its own unique needs and issues, and that nothing is wrong with my curly hair as long as it's well taken care of. It took time to get to this though.
I just think that this is one of those things where most of us fall victim to the "grass is greener" mentality at some time or another.

Because they only see the problems and challenges associated with what they have. When they see the opposite in people who have met those challenges, they only see the positive results.
For example, I have thick, wavy hair but I would love smooth, straight, fine hair. When I see a woman with a cute pixie cut, I only think about how I can never have that cut because my hair is too unmanageable. I never think about the hair cuts she can never have for lack of volume. When she sees and envies women with thick, wavy hair, she is only noticing the the lovely examples. If she ever sees a woman with witchy, out-of-control wavy hair, she never associates that with the kind of hair she wants

1. We are able to identify things that make people feel good
2. We are able to get bored with anything we have

Because then they would have to admit that anything remaining that is wrong with their life is all in their head or all their fault.
