I'm rather paranoid myself. I have my daughter's fingerprints, but it was at an event where I took the sheet home myself - the authorities DO NOT have them on file.
In the horrible event that your child was kidnapped, the authorities could (theoretically) obtain fingerprints from a location while searching for your child, and use your copies of your child's fingerprints to determine that they were there, and possibly help them locate your child.

All accurate Identity of the child in the parents
possession can help.
Example: The Child Is unable to speak due to shock, or
injury.
They might look at the fingerprints before they do
something like taking blood. That can be very dramatic
to a Child who is already scared.
" afraid fingerprinting would backfire on them in the future ".
What a bunch of crock, talk about protecting people
guilty of criminal activity.
If they are proven to have done the crime
they are guilty.

If your child was kidnapped - they may find fingerprints in locations that would identify that your child was indeed there...and then know they are pursuing the right path. Also great to identify a child that may not be old enough to talk to officers or a child who may be too shy/too scared to tell police who they are when found. Usually the parents keep the fingerprints...they aren't held on record or anything unless parents turn them over for a case.

If a child is abducted and turns up years later, he/she may not be immediately recognizable. Fingerprints would help that. It shouldn't backfire as long as they don't break the law.

on the off chance that child was lost or hurt and could not speak for his or her self wouldn't you like to know that the police could go to the computer and identify that child in a matter of seconds. Also suppose we ever had another 9\11 or a terrible storm and you were seperated from you child.....the list goes on and on as to why you should do it and not very many reason why you shouldnt do it.

Every citizen should be fingerprinted and DNA sampled, for our own protection from Saddam Husseins and other tyrants of the world that have WMDs in deep bunny rabbit holes that our ground penetrating radar cannot locate.

it's a very good thing to have. what if your child is taken and fingerprints are found somewhere that belong to them days after they are taken. then you have some hope right.

i know that if my child was missing i would want to know if they were dead or not, and if the only way to tell that was with fingerprints i would be happy that i had them fingerprinted.

yeaa not to keen on that idea. best bet is to take them prints yourself of some smudge proof paper, and keep them with the birth certificates. why do they need them in the files anyways?
Just trying to trick the parents. they want everybody fingerprints.
same as the new "GPS" thing in your kids arm.
just take your own
