I am on my 12th day today, of NO smoking after 20+ years!
I caught the flu this year and have been on and off with smoking but wasnt able to get past 3 days of being smoke free until a few days ago- finally!
Cold turkey, lots of gum and WATER and DUMDUM lollipops!

20 years, cold turkey, a few minor relapses, but just restarted the process again, and I've been nicotine free for twelve years now. Most people need more than one attempt. Nicotine patches or gum, and a short pencil or unlit herbal cigarette, like Honeyrose (dump the lighter), helps satisfy the need for oral stimulation. Find something to do with your hands, to keep them occupied. Hypnotherapy can help.

I smoked for 6 years, and decided that it was a dumb thing to be doing. So, i just went cold turkey like you. I wanted to kill everyone for about a week. On my lunchbreaks, I'd just go walk around the warehouse to avoid temptation. What really kept me motivated was that I told everyone I talked to that I quit. I didn't want people to be like "Yeah, I knew you couldn't do it." So just tell everyone you know and your pride won't let you relapse. Hopefully. And congrats.

I'm free for 9 years now.
I quit with the first generation of patches.

It helped me to develop a healthy hatred for smoking.

I view people who smoke as weak. I am better than them!!!

Not really, but I felt that like kicking any addiction, a healthy hatred helped.
