its going to wear it down eventually. Higher rate of depression and anxiety. This is due to your body being over alert constantly. Like the fight and flight hormone dopamine. Your body not only has to process the sensory imput of the pain... it has to process everything else along with it.. Its overload. Plus, because your body cant process all that info as easy as it use to you will feel more irritable. Thats all for physical pain... I would consult a physician for possible treatment options. However if the pain is emotional... its going to have the same effect on your mind... to ease that you will need to get to the source of the problem and therapy is probably the best route.
Hope that helps!
Good Luck!

It depends on many things. Where is the pain, what is causing it, other health conditions, the age of the patient, previous mental health problems. I suffer from a chronic pain condition and I can promise you it does affect your state of mind. All of these things need to be discussed and dealt with, with your health care professional and needs to be done as soon as possible.

Depends on the type of pain in my eyes. Physical pain to me, does not bother my mental state of mind in a bad way. It I do not treat it, and tough it out, I grow stronger and more able to handle bad things. And mentally if things are bothering me, paining me, and I do not handle them, it eats me up inside and out. I pain for it day after day till I solve it and resolve what it is that is bothering me.

It depends on how strong you mind is. I would think not treated properly it would wear down your mental status.
