i have money to take care of a dog . but thats to be able to take care of the dog not to buy the dog, i own my own home and i have a 2 year old son in which i want him to be able to grow up with the puppy, BUT i do not own the land and the owner does not want big dogs other wise i really would like a lab the puppy would get LOTS of love and attention and the mainance that it would need.

No. But a 4 month old Black Lab in Manitowoc.....sure isn't a daschund though....Contact me if you suddenly change your mind. And, yes for free to good home!
Blessings

There are too many people out there doing horrible, strange things to animals that you will not find a "free" dog that is healthy, sound temperament, from a great breeder. This purbred dog is popular and expensive. If you are interested in a daschund, I would suggest you contact local shelters and rescue groups. The cost is conciderably a lot less expensive. You receive a healthy, spayed/neutred already!, animal. There you will find honest people that will tell you exactly what the temperment and health is of each animal. The humane societies in Wisconsin are wonderful shelters with excellent animal care givers, and extrememly knowledgeable adoption councelors.

It is not likely that you will find a free puppy. If you would be happy with an adult, I suggest that you write up a little bit about your home and family and send it to the moderators of some of the Yahoo groups that are specifically for Dachshund breeders asking them if they would forward your letter and request to the list. Be sure you include your location in that letter also. Many breeders also do breed rescue, and some have dogs that they are seeking homes for. You may find that breeders can give dogs away to excellent homes and be able to avoid some of the rescue fees which in general range about 250

For free??!! What about vaccines, spaying or neutering, heartworm-(big disease in Wisconsin because of mosquitos), not to mention unplanned medical problems?
If you can't afford the intial cost of the dog, you probably cannot afford the maintenance cost for 10-14 years!!!!
No one is going to give you a pure bred daschund, especially a puppy for free.
To be honest I would not recommend a daschund for children. The majority of the daschunds I have met have been very tempormental and therefore not a good choice for small kids. I have only met one good daschund-a standard wirehair-she was very sweet-but it was atypical for the breed

I don't imagine a daschund would get around in the snow very well.
