Why do women feel more comfortable wearing makeup?

Some women look pretty with makeup; some look pretty without makeup. So many women wear makeup, but I prefer women who don't wear makeup; women who show their natural beauty rather than women who mask their faces.

society puts a lot more pressure on women then on men. society expects women to be beautiful and confident. because of this pressure a lot of women wear make up so that society views them as beautiful. It's like putting on fake confidence.
personally, make up bugs me. i don't like the way it feels on my face so i don't wear any.

I wear makeup and i love it. It does honestly make me feel more confident going outside of the house when i have it on. I think it looks like i did something to get ready and not just crawled out of bed. The thing i always keep in mind though is not to try create something else with makeup, but accent my natural features, like my eyes, because they dont really stand out that much, and sometimes just to even out my skin-tone so i dont look so sunburned or pale. The thing i cant stand is people who hide behind makeup and practically paint a thick black mask over their face. Makeup I think is the way to go, just keep it relatively natural.

As for comfort and zit-causing chemicals...you just need to know what to buy, more quality stuff that isnt necessarily more expensive. I use very light makeup that i can barely tell is there. And i dont put makeup on so thick that theres no doubt it will clog every pore on my face. Contrary to popular belief, you CAN still look natural with makeup on, and you CAN find inexpensive, quality products that dont look like paint and wont cause a million zits or other unhealthy things.

I hate wearing makeup. It gets me attention from guys for the wrong reason. Also I do feel as you described as if I am wearing a mask. It has taken me years to look into the mirror and actually love who I am. I know that God thinks I'm beautiful just the way he made me. So I no longer feel the need to know others think that.

We were trained to do that and just look in any magazine and what do you see or in the movies what do you see.Everyone of the women you see has makeup on so now you no why we wear makeup.

Not all women do prefer wearing makup. Makeup isn't made to be a mask but rather an enhancement...I know some go overboard.

I don't wear makeup; but women that do may do so to hide what they feel maybe skin imperfections and blemishes. the world is so hung up on one image, some women are insecure if they don't look the way "America's Next Top Model" looks.

Women nowadays believe that they need make-up to look beautiful, although many look gorgeous even without it. I know my g/f looks awfully good in the morning but she won't go anywhere without at least a little makeup.

well we think that you guys like us to wear makeup and we want to make ourselfs more beautiful because not all guys want to see a girl without makeup some guys wont look at a girl unless they have makeup on and we want to hide zits and stuff like that

I don't wear that crap either..... women who tend to wear makeup a lot have to depend on it more because it eats at your skin. Look at a celebrity's skin with and without makeup and notice that their skin looks drained. Years and years of weight and chemicals (depending on which chemical) will do its damage.

Comfortable? Me not I don't use make up and if I use I will feel like a dead person walkingb ugly I realy don't need any make up I will look ugly...I am 36 years old and I will look ugly with make up on I have a problemyes guys thin I am a 26 to 30 years old lady...
