do protected alarms on an electronic device really go off?

do they go off if u cut the wire that is connected on it...

Yes they do. It is called an open circuit alarm and is a fail safe for burglery . It also registers if the power is off and it goes to battery standby. An alarm is sent to the monitor company

Nah, go ahead and just steal whatever it is. If the alarm goes off, just run like hell.
