It'll make you gassy, on the upside you get drunker faster. So why people don't use straws I wonder myself

Some people do; to get drunk faster. I reckon as you suck on the straw, the pressure created from the speed it's traveling agitates the beer; thus releasing more CO2. So, as you swallow, the released CO2 will push the alcohol into the bloodstream faster.

In the past I drank beer thru a straw. I don't drink anymore.

i actually drink my beer out of a straw! i think beer is just a barley and hops flavored carbonated beverage, just like sprite is a lemon and lime flavored carbonated beverage, so i drink my beer just like pop, in a glass with ice and i use a straw

When beer is drank through a straw it is more easily/readily absorbed into your pallette (sp?), and get's you drunk faster because it's absorbed right into your blood stream.
