Okay, I'm fourteen and I want to model more than anything in the world for the past 6 months and i recently brought it up with my parents. They said I couldn't do it, but I figure if I combine my six months of research and advice from people who answer, they'll change their minds. It's not like I want to do it for the rest of my life, maybe for a few years, just to gain experience and explore my options a little.

Forget it. I am in the acting business here in Canada, and its cut throat! I mean it is some tough *** work to be a model let alone an actress. I know of some models and they are airheads really, they are so superficial and not people you want to hang out with. If you can handle people saying to your face you have a pimple its gross, your fat lose the wieght, get your cut its ugly, I mean really ignorant but blunt comments.
I am not a millionaire from this business, but I live.
If you still want to model, GET AN AGENT.
Forget those "modelling" companies, hell be an actress.

Has anyone suggested modeling, or is it that you just want to be a model?

The reason I ask, is because if nobody has ever mentioned "Hey you should model" or "You'd make a great model" or things like that, then chances are modeling agencies will turn you down in a heartbeat.

However, if people have made comments like that, then I'd say you have a pretty good chance of making it in the "model world".

That being said though, EVERYONE gets rejected at some point or another. Even the most famous models have been rejected by companies or photographers. Are you prepared to deal with that? Do you think you'd be able to handle the criticism?

Keep doing your research..if in 2 or 3 months you still want this, then talk to your parents again. Good luck :-)

I would have to agree with your parents. Modeling can be VERY expensive! There's agents and pictures that can really be expensive. You also have to be ready for disapointment. Very few aspiring models actually get a modeling job. Everybody is constantly judging you. Maybe when you are older you can send a picture to those magazine contests. Good Luck!
