I recently sent a 7 month old dog to Queensland that was fine when he left here. He was a happy dog and was fine when picked up by the transporters. He arrived in Queensland (according to the people that have him) afraid and won't come near them and if you raise a hand when you are near him he cringes and piddles himself. Unfortunately he is 1000s of kms aways from me so it is impossible for me to get to see him and I am very worried about this abnormal behaviour. I would be very happy for any ideas on what can be done for him - I am desperate

The obvious first response would be that you did not have very good transporters-- i.e- they may have abused or neglected him. However, it could just be that the trip scared him alot and now hes become very shy or timid from it. If this is the case, Im sure he will be fine after a few days of supportive nurturing. Just have the new caretakers "coax" him and be sure they are patient with him. If this doesnt work, I would definitely talk with the transporters and see if there was some just cause or altercation to cause his extremely strange behaviour.

the poor baby is scared to death. all he knows is that he's suddenly around these new people he has never seen before, and you are no where to be found. you are all he knows, so it's natural that he would react this way. are you giving him away? or are they just dog sitting? if you gave him away, keep in touch with these people and make sure he's eating. if his behavior doesn't improve in about a week, i would seriously think about getting him back. you have to stop and think, that he's still just a baby, and its traumatic for him to suddenly be yanked from his life he had while with you....he just doesn't know those other people. the only advice would be to keep taps on him, and tell them to be patient with the little guy. it will take time for him to get used to them. and like i said before, if he doesn't improve, think about having him sent back to you. hope this helps a bit, and good luck
