The receptors in your brain get used to nicotine. When you stop smoking, it makes it so that it's hard to quit. You will get used to it, or smoke more and more if you develop a tolerance to the level you are smoking now.
I don't smoke and never going to because in my health class, they showed videos of people who had mouth cancer, lung cancer etc. They had this cauliflower looking stuff growing on their tongue (sick!) and the guy with lung cancer could hardly move and was sitting in the hospital bed practically dead.
There is also a poster that shows what someone would look like if their insides looked like their outsides when they smoked. She was covered in ash and looked really sick.
Smoking also makes you age faster. Just think of all the wrinkles you'll get earlier and maybe it will stop you.
Obviously talk to your docter. Ask if there is some medicine or patch you can take. If you need to satisfy your nicotine crave, chew gum or use a patch, this stopes second-hand smoke. Slowly cut down on your intake of cigarettes and it will go away.

Please read this to the end. Anti-tobacco companies have led us to believe that tobacco addiction is much more serious than it is, it is of their interest that you think you cannot quit. You can, whenever you want. Tobacco addiction is more physical than mental. For example, even during the 8 hours or so you take to sleep, you are going through withdrawal, and unless you are a chain-smoker, you will not wake up needing a cigarette. Make up your mind and decide you won't smoke again. You can do it. I smoked for 5years, stopped 2, smoked again 6 months, stopped 3 years, smoked again for a year and have not smoked again since 2000 with no need for patches, gums, meds or therapy.

See my other answer re giving up. Stop now!: take your remaining cigarettes and hit them repeatedly with a hammer or mallet, to let your unconscious mind know just how important this is to you, then flush them down the toilet without delay, and start the process of giving it up again, using nicotine patches or gum at first, and put a short pencil or a Honeyrose or other herbal cigarette in your mouth, as a way to satisfy the need for oral stimulation ( Dump or leave your cigarette lighter behind if you have to go out to purchase them ). Most people take more than one try, to give up. Hypnotherapy can help. Find something to keep you occupied when the urge strikes. Learn from this and make yourself as temptation proof as reasonably possible. Remember this experience, and resolve firmly that you won't repeat that mistake again.

Yikes...that's a lot of cigarettes!
My advice it to try to quit again...and to stay that way. Drink water to keep hydrated...and I'm sorry, I guess I'm not much of a help when it comes to smoking!

Stop again right now... you haven't re-addicted yourself just yet... go and take those cigarettes you have there and destroy them... throw them out... get them away from yourself ! 2 years is quite an accomplishment, so don't throw all of that away for nothing... quit now... if not for yourself, quit for me... I stopped in 2000 and haven't picked up one since !

It wont slow down. You have to drown the impulse first, so stock up on a few packs and keep smoking more than your craving, just keep smoking until you feel you can't take it anymore. Then, just keep your willpower, but it'll be much easier once you have overcompensated for your addiction by drowning your impulse.

Nasty... May I suggest nicotine patch or nicorettes (ask your doctor about it.) You can also try viewing an actual picture of a human lung with cancer from smoking...(search the web)...might scare you off those nasty life shortening sticks of death!!
