If this has been worse than usual, it's probably a cold rather than your allergies, but either way, chicken noodle soup contains chemicals that can relieve some of the stuffiness, meaning that mothers have been right all along. If you want more drastic short term relieve, eat some spicy soup. Your nose will run while you're eating, so keep the tissues nearby, but at least you'll be able to breathe for a while. Get lots of sleep, vitamin C and water if you think it's a cold. If you think it is your allergies rather than a cold, try to pinpoint what might be causing it so you can avoid it. Have you been around people who wear perfumes, dust, certain plants or animals? Do you use a feather pillow? Even food allergies can cause stuffiness. And whether it is a cold or allergies, fresh air might help, especially if you've been inside a lot lately. Something else that also works for me is putting some Vicks Vaporub under my nose, especially before bed.

Sometimes it takes a few antihistimens to find the right one. Try using a nasal decongestant (such as Sudafed) and use saline nasal spray frequently throughout the day to help keep your sinuses clear. Also try going for a walk. Exercise has been proven to help with allergies. Other than that you can try taking a hot shower, or take a warm damp wash cloth and press it against your face and inhale the steam, or place a dab of mentholatum under your nose. It is a decongestant and works really well. Your system could be overloaded from something you're allergic to, which is possibly why the benardyl and claratin didn't work. I know if my body gets too overloaded, not really much helps as far as medication. I have to use the alternative methods I described above.

I have allergies year round and I have tried everything in the book for them, finally I had to see a specialist to get meds. for the problem. You may have to do the same thing. All over the counter meds don't work like we would like them to. See a Dr. for them to prescribe you maybe some flonase and you may need an antibiotic depending on how serious your problem is. Good Luck.

Advil Cold and Sinus works really well when I am with a cold. Lasts for about six hours. You can buy it at any pharmacy.
If your nose is raw from wiping, take a drop of hand lotion and rub it where you are sore.

your allergies could have mutated to become stronger than the antibiotics for it, you can seek a doctor for stronger medication or simply stick a tissue paper up your nostril so it absorbs the snot

Clarinex (desloratidine) is great for this.
As a temporary fix for your runny nose, eat something with enough hot sauce to hurt.
