ok well for the past few months ive been hearing this screaming noise out in the woods. at first it hought it was just a puppy or osmething like a coyote puppy. and other people said it was an owl but it sounds nothing like an owl. so tonight the scream was twice as loud. it almost sounded like a human screaming. so i went outside and all my neighbors were out there with flashlights looking for it. my neighbors said they thought it might be bob cats but they flushed it out of the woods towards me and it came out just a little and it almost looked like a small dog. it looked almost like a husky but smaller. it was bigger then a coyote though. it had a curly tale too. and pointy ears . and it was pretty stocky. but the thing was it never did bark it just screamed. and im pretty sure thats what i saw was that dog looking thing but im not positive i might be mistaken. well i live in the midsouth around memphis so if anyone has any clue please help me.

Don't know what kind of animal you saw but I would call the local animal control and ask them if they have had any other reports describing this animal. They may know exactly what this animal is.
Hope this helps..

To me, it sounds like a Links, pig or a cross-bread of some larger animal. Many animals do maore than 1 noise. You should search for it in day, but be careful!

Usally preditary animals are night-walkers, so I wouldn't just go look for it in shorts. If you do look, don't bring any, or just little food with you.

If it gets anoying, contact a local forest ranger. Please do not kill the animal, because it may be hurt or lost. Only let the rangers kill it if they absolutly have to. I'm sure you wouldn't want to be shot...

It would be easier to answer this if I knew the type of habbitat you lived in.

It sounds too healthy to have been a fox, or any wild animal this time of year. You don't usually find stocky animals in the wild, not in the canine family. Interesting, though.

I'm not exactly sure what you could be seeing without seeing it for myself. If you are unsure what it may be, I would contact your local game commission or animal control. They are better qualified than you or I to handle whatever it may be. They can educate you on what it is, and if it's in pain they can provide the necessary care for it. Please be careful when dealing with a strange animal. Rabies could be an issue if it is a wild animal and you can get close to it. Good luck!

Sounds like fox. Foxes make a screaming sound, something like children, and can easily be mistaken for dogs.

Good luck and please don't hurt them!
they are just too cute!

You got me. Dog sounds like the reasonable answer. If it was me, I'd shoot it and kill it to put it out of its apparent misery and to get some peace and quiet.

a feral pig? sometimes pigs escape captivity. they don't eat so much so they aren't as barrel shaped.
