It hurts like a sore throat would hurt, but they have medications to give you for pain.

Afterwards - and I know this will be hard....you get to eat lots and lots of ice cream!

U won't actually feel them taking them out, but afterwords, for me, it was probably the worst pain of my life!! I thought it was way worse than a sore throat. Everyone told me to eat frosty's and ice cream but it was just painful to swallow...period! They prescribed me some drinkable codeine, but it would only work for an hour. I remember the doctor telling me to try to eat solid foods as soon as u can, so ur throat will heal quicker. I'm not telling u this to scare u, but i think u should expect the worst. It may not even be that bad for u. To me, all the pain was worth it cause now i don't get those nasty throat infections.
Good luck!

Sweetie, don't worry. I had it done and it only hurt a little bit. Try not to cough very hard after it and drink plenty of liquids preferably not a lot of soda, more like apple juice. Eat soft foods and you can plenty of ice cream, so woo-hoo! There will be a nasty taste in your mouth and throat for awhile, but it will go away in a few days. Good luck! B.T.W check out this site.

Yes it hurts.

They put you under a general anaesthetic, so you won't feel anything, and your body doesn't react (much).

However...you will have a problem swallowing for a week or two, since your throat will be sore. This is also why you will be eating alot of soups and ice cream - to avoid pulling out the stitches.

Personally, when I was a kid, I had it done to me, I ached for a couple of weeks, but that was more or less controllable by 292's and aspirin. (In any case, the tabs were ground-up and dissolved in warm water...this was gargled with and drunk.)

Another treatment you'll want to use is warm salt water...this helps prevent infection, but is not a substitute for antibiotics. ;)

eat lot of ice cream make sure to swallow it slowly, pain part kinda sucks but you have to get over it you dont really have a choice on a scale from 1-10 probably 6-7 depends upon your will power to sustain the pain.

I have been given my tonsils taken out like thirteen years in the past and it grow to be undesirable. yet that grow to be once you had to stay over evening. i think of recently you're in and out interior the comparable day so it won't be so undesirable.

The procedure won't hurt a bit.

Afterward, your throat might be a little sore for a short while.

You will not be conscience when it's done. You'll likely be given some heavy pain killer pills.

tonsils serve a purpose and should not be removed except in extreme cases. strongly suggest you get a second opinion.
