The France family is the governing body of nascar. They seem to have robbed Mark Martin once again. Isn't it Nascar's policy that in an event of a wreck they are suppose to throw the caution flag and freeze the field? This was done to prevent race back to the start line and more wrecks. Yet when Mark Martin has an oppurtunity to win a race and starts to slow his car due to Nascar's RULE. It bites him and he loses. I am an Nascar fan and travel to events and this greatly angers me. Nothing against Harvick fans. He is a good driver, but Nascar should stick to their rules and not only enforce them whenever they fill like it.

I don't know what the effect of the flag being thrown would have had on the race. Only Martin knows, and that is probably a big maybe too, I am a Martin fan for sentimental reasons.
My guy, Jimmie was out of it, and everyone here was screaming for Martin to win. Although he lost, it was a great finish. Martin is a classy guy and a great representative for NASCAR. I truly wish Martin had won, and we felt great disappointment. I wonder if the fans at Daytona felt the same?

My driver won, but I will throw that out of the equation for my answer.

Throwing the yellow flag would have also affected the finish in some way. Depending on where/when the flag comes out, Harvick may still win the race.

But, the yellow would not have affected the wrecks behind the leader, as they still would have went on, no matter what flag was thrown. Why rob the fans at Daytona of a great finish just to give the win to a sentimental favorite? I agree with the decision to race, even if it was 2 other drivers I didn't like. It was an exciting finish and had another reason to be sentimental, as today was the 6 year anniversary of Dale Earnhardt's death. Either way, the only way to get it right was to let them run it.

And jermanley1981 - that is classless. I'm not a Mark Martin fan and I feel your comments were out of line. Show some class.

One of the big reasons Mark is so upbeat this year is the lack of pressure from his new owners. Over at Ginn Racing they were just happy to bring Mark over and help them get the new team established and be a mentor to Regan Smith. It sounds like Mark would have gone to this partial schedule a couple years back if it hadn't been for the tremendous pressure that Jack put on him to continue full time. Now that he's just having fun again his approach to races and final results have both gotten better. I do believe that he will sit out at Bristol but if he is still in the top 10 after that look for him to consider running more races. Mark is just a class guy, there is not one driver out there that speaks poorly of him. He races you fair and not always as tough as you'd like to see. If he knows another driver has a better car than him he won't hold them up very long. That type of respect that he has for his fellow competitors has probably cost him a championship or 2 over the years but he's OK with that. He had a good point at Vegas, he said "It's not the trophy that makes the man great, it's the man that makes the trophy great." Oh yeah, I think he likes the Hendrick horsepower a lot as well. I've never seen Mark smile so much and talk so highly about his engines before.

The wreck was BEHIND the leader. Throwing the caution would not have prevented any more cars from wrecking. You want to know what really happened? Mark Martin either heard on his radio or looked behind him and saw the cars wrecking. He made an OLD MAN mistake and lifted out of the gas for a second and got beat by a true racer. Tell me this, do you think Dale Sr., Darrel Waltrip, Jimmie Johnson, or any other 'champion' would have lifted? No way! That is why Martin never won a cup because when it all comes down to it, he's not as gutsy as the other guys. Martin is not alone, there are plenty of guys in Cup that don't have the stones to win it.

NASCRAp isn't real racing.

The real racing season won't start for about 6 weeks - when the Champ Cars hit the street of Vegas for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Besides, it isn't like anyone was in any real danger. Just because a car was upside down and on fire isn't a reason to throw a caution on the last lap.

Fire = ratings. That is all that NASCRAp cares about. Entertaining the 'necks.

Five IROC championships.

Five.

Dale Earnhardt never won that many. Jeff Gordon didn't even win ONE.

Sure, NASCAR has it in for Mark, but all his fans know how awesomely cool he is. And he has the respect of his peers.
