No you wil not get chicken pox. You have to come in contact with someone who actually has the virus to catch it. If you have never had them why not get the shot at your docs office?

1) She should stay away from public places until the last pustule has crusted/scabbed over.
2) You have the right to request that someone with a highly infectious disease not come to your place of imployment (especially if that person doesn't even work there!)
3) If you haven't ever been exposed to Chicken Pox (which is very highly unlikely), you should be vaccinated asap.
4) I think someone up there said you can get shingles from her...not true. You get shingles from a reactivation of the virus (it stays in your body, thats why you never get chicken pox again after you've had it), not from a reinfection.
5) Chicken pox is very contagious...the reason EVERYONE gets it is because it is spread in respiratory droplets...so if you have heard her coughing over there you can bet she has sprayed virus into the air. That being said, I will repeat: if you ever had this as a child you will not get it again.
6) If you aren't sure you have ever had chicken pox, go to your doctor. Tell him/her the situation and that you are concerned. Chicken pox has a ~2 week incubation I beleive so if you aren't sick by then or a little after then I would say you are probably okay. But if you are worried, have bloodwork done at the doctor's office to check for Ab to VZV (the chickenpox virus). The doctor will then be able to tell you if you are immune--or if not, if you were recently infected. If you are not immune and not infected, you can get the vaccine.
7) If you are worried, go to the doctor asap. Adult chickenpox is extremely serious. It is one of the few viruses that get much more severe the later in life you have it. Adults with chicken pox tend to get VERY sick.
Hope this helps :)

Why is that person at work?! Your daughter should not be the one who has to miss work. But yes, if she's never had it before, she could get it, and then spread it to other people. Chicken Pox generally lasts about a week. Your daughter should report her coworker though; most Human Resources for businesses won't allow employees to work if they have a communicable disease.

If the co-workers daughter has the chicken pox you cant get it from the co-worker. Only should she get the disease then you could get it -but if you live in the US you probably already had the vaccination. If not you should.

Have you ever had it?
The Chicken Pox, come in two forms. And, even if you DID have it as a child, when you are an adult, it can re-occur as Shingles.

most people have been inumized aginst the disease. you have more than likely been exposed while in childhood but if you have never had them then it would be wise to make sure that your shot record is up to date and you have to be dirrectly exposed to the disease to be able to contaact it

Yes, if you never had it before or were never immunized against it. It's highly contagious.
