hard to say. sometimes its whats deep in the mind that comes out. Coprolalia (outburst of obscenities and curse words) is actually very uncommon in Tourette Syndrome and only effects as low as 5% to 15% of Touretter’s. Coprolalia is not required for a diagnosis.

usually what triggers is thinking about previous occasions where something didn't feel comfortable, but not limited to that. Sometimes obscenities are said for no reason. doctors really dont know why they come out. That is mostly because the exact cause of Tourette's is unknown, just that it is a genetic disorder

and people who do not know swear words such as children dont blurt them out

Tourette's, not turrets. And it's different for everyone. Some do swear words, some whole sentences, some just noises.

I am almost confident that those with this syndrome mostly repeat all kinds of sounds. I don't think it matters whether the sounds are real (or normal) or not. The people who have this syndrome repeat sounds more often than repeat the whole words (and have uncontrollable twitches).
