shouldn't the question be "why do I boil raw beetroots?"

It all depends on their size. I usually buy medium size beets and boil them unpeeled in plain water for 45 minutes to one hour. Remove from water then scrape of skin and slice.

clean beets throughly, cut both end of the beets put it inside a container with little water, put it under low heat for half hour then turn the beets around for another half hour, skinned the beets and is ready to eat. you may need longer time if the beet is large.

Boil them until when you put a knife through their middle...The knife goes through easily.
