I was watching a poker game (Texas holdem), at a friends house and both players were friends. There was two players remaining and one player went all in, and the other player called his bet. The pot was about 200 bucks. Both players had a flush of HEARTS. One player (the winner) had 8, 4 of hearts; while the other player had 6, 2 of hearts. The highest card of hearts on the table was a 9. Wasn't it a draw? Did both players have to split the pot? Didn't both of them have to play off the 9 and not which one had the highest card on hand? Would appreciate it, if someone could clear this matter for me. Cuzz the person who won, is telling me Im wrong, but doing so because he doesn't want the other player to find out that the pot had to be split.

The person with the 8 4 of hearts is the winner. In Hold'em you always take the best five cards. So in this example (I have to assume the board cards, as you didn't specify them all) here is how it would look:

9 8 5 4 3 hearts - Player 1

9 6 5 4 2 hearts - Player 2

Player one has the five highest hearts, and therefore has the superior flush.

It is the best five card hand, so the guy with the 8 has the higher flush since his second card is higher. The only way it would be a tie is if the board was say AKJT8 of hearts and the two players had lower hearts than that. There is an example of this in the hold em rules on http://www.theultimatepokerguide.com that may help.

No they shouldn't have split the pot. The only way they would have to split is if there was a flush on the board and both players had cards in their hands lower then the lowest card on the board. He was right not to split the pot.

First of all you should never play hands like 8-4 or 6-2 even if they are suited. But to answer the question the 8 high flush will take it my friend. Zct did a very good job explaining why the 8 high flush wins.

im in love with facebook poker texas holdem too, i began with basically 100k in chips and gained over 13 million facebook poker chips now. My sister performs like 10 hours an afternoon tho and that i not in any respect supply her any because is so unbelivably undesirable (im no longer even kidding), so I make her purchase. She oftentimes buys from facebookpokerstore too, they have solid costs. i'm hoping it fairly works out for you.

always play suited connectors out of position in the big blind when the pot hasn't been raised or when so many players have called a raise the pot odds are correct. #2 sincity usa is an idiot and don't listen to his advice...#! verify that my advice is correct. if you play a hand like 6 2 suited you are looking to hit a straight not a flush.
