Why are living creatures so tenacious about surviving. Who cares if you're dead or alive, or that you even lived? In that case why even have kids, go to school, get a job, pay a mortgage, etc.? Seems like a pitiful way of spending our only chance of existing.

Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!
Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?
My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:

Are you for real. Do you really think that worshipping a non-existent being is all there is to life?
Just the fact that you do not worship anyone and live your life for yourself is reason enough for life.
You realize the lie of heaven was brought about by emperor Constantine who decided to give the peasants a little something to brighten up there lives, which at that time were quite terrible.
Now, in this country we have it much better and do not need the false hope of heaven to carry on.
If what you mentioned about a mortgage, school, kids, etc is pitiful to you then maybe you are already dead inside.

You assume there is reason in our existence. You can't even fathom the alternative.
That's why God and Heaven "exist". Belief in these protect weak minds from totally shutting down from such a realization.
Sorry, but your limitations in this philosphy are clear with your mention of kids, school, job, MORTGAGE. Lol mortgage? When did that become any part of the "meaning" of life?

You don't necessarily need a point to life regardless of there being a heaven or not. I'm guessing my dog isn't really aware of a heaven or lack thereof, and he doesn't have any problem just living his life. And maybe kids, an education, hard work, and a nice place to live seems pitiful to you, but some of us actually enjoy it.

The whole point of living is to LIVE! You sound like you must be very depressed if you need a deity to feel that your life is worth while. If there is a God, then I'm sure He will be very sad that you feel the life He gave you is worth nothing in and of ITSELF, and that all you feel that you have to look forward to is dying.

Welcome to reality, my friend. Animals and plants are always struggling for survival also.
Think about the daily life of animals, having to kill to survive.We seem to accept and understand their fate. We don't care.
The irony is that we are just like them. Nobody really cares.
Most of the people in this world regret their lives.
It would be even more pitiful to think that al this misery was intentionally created by a God.

I believe heaven is real and God does exist. That is the point of life, to live the best we can, love the best we can, learn the best we can, even through suffering on this darn thing called Earth.

I don't know the answer to that question. I found God a LOOONG time ago. I just wanted to respond to some people that life is about living and having fun, not suffering as a Christian and I just wanted to say that being a christian can be fun. I hang out with my friends, go see movies, go to parties, we just don't do the horrible disgusting stuff.

To live, your here aren't you, so you might as wel make the best of it. You only get one chance. I like how you said creatires though, are you saying that animals have souls because I think that goes against alot of churches beliefs. But wait you referred to all creatures... oh yeah we're creatures... that means... we on't have souls either. Hmmm maybe you should be answering this question and not asking it.
