We have 2 female cat's who are spayed. They are outdoor cat's but come inside to eat. We have never had a problem with them. Over the 6 month's or so, we ahve been having some problem's. All of a sudden we have about 6 cat's ahnging around our yard. One in fact I know is a stray and I have caught him in the act spraying one of our car's. Everyday there is the spell of cat urine all around our house, front door, car's etc.. TAll of the cat's that are hangin around are male cat's. I believe it is them sparying.
Im gettign really frustrated because the smell is horrible and i have children who play outside and i believe they are spraying her outdoor toy's. IOt seems to be where ever our cat's are at, they spray.
Is there any way to get rid of these tom cats from spraying? If we got rid of our cat's would they go away?
Please help!!!

I would call animal control and they will put out traps to help capture the stray cats. Just keep your kitties inside for the time being.. these cats need to be caught! Them spraying is a sign that they are not fixed... so to make sure they dont add to the pet population please call animal control and get them to capture them! That will be the answer to your problems!

I share your pain!! I was just searching for the same answer, as you. I have indoor cats, but have a few friendly neighborhood cats that I feed...well, this, of course, brings ALL of the wild ones and they are now spraying my front door, etc. and I have children, too. Really frustrating and incredibly smelly. I think the only true answer is to call animal control to gather up the wild cats. It's a shame...some of the cats are quite friendly and none of them appear to have distemper or other creepy things. Smelly smelly though...ugh!

It sounds to me like your female cats may not have been spayed correctly. (Although I cannot imagine how, they remove both of the uterine tubes and stitch up) They may be in heat and drawing the males in, who are now marking the area of the females as their own. I'd take your cats in to the vet and see if they can check the cats for being in heat. Once you've got multiple males marking, it's very difficult to get rid of them. You could probably rent a humane trap and catch them one by one and turn them in to a shelter. Or you could call a cat rescue that may take them for you. You might try to spray bleach directly on where they spray. Good luck!

spray your yard with a 'get off' the garden product, available in pet shops. Have yours neutered as that may help. Failing that, go out and kick them up the **** - they won't come back. But you should not have to get rid of your cats just because other cats are hanging around.

Wow! You really DO have a problem! I'd suggest you do take the male cats to a place far away from your females. It is possible they'll come back, but if you take them quite far from your home, I think it isn't likely they will return.
Apparently, you don't have a fenced yard. I do have one I bought for my pets. I also have a large chain link pen for them.
If you don't want to fence the yard, you could put up, or have put up a large pen for your females.
Best of luck with your problem!

All my cats have been neutered as early as conceivable and that all of them spray. the lads do it outdoors mutually as my woman does it the two interior and out of doorways. She does it interior whilst she s disturbing and that i additionally think of she s letting the lads comprehend who s boss. each and every so often she gets in the clutter tray, digs a hollow and then stands up and piddles down the wall. I ve positioned that one right down to absent mindedness

Sprinkle pepper. Or if you smoke leave your dog ends lying about. I used to smoke in my garden (given up now tho) next door's cat stopped popping by.

Make your cat's indoor only cats. It's actually healthier and just better for them to be indoor animals. Please talk with the vet to see what you can do to keep those other cats away, and from sraying-there must be a product you can use that would be safe for your childrnen to play outside. Take care.
