Ah, the wonderful nipping puppy phase. For me, I had to yell "OUCH" in a really high pitched loud voice to simulate a playmate yelping. After he let go, I would walk away for a few minutes. I kept up this cycle until he realized that OUCH equaled no playmate and he stopped biting. You can also try spraying your pants/legs/hands with Bitter Apple spray. It tastes awful to dogs and teaches them not to chew on things. Eventually, I got to the point where I could tell my dog "gentle" when he was playing too rough.

The very best trainers are Bark Busters,,they give you a life time guarentee,,I have booked a training session with them. For biting dont tap her nose all her nerve endings are there, just give her a replacement for her to chew. She is playing with you. Playing tug of war makes a dog aggressive so that shouldnt be encouraged. Just keep saying no remove her gently off your pants and hand her her rawhide,,which should be supervised as she can choke on pieces that break off by the way. Good luck she will outgrow it. And give her plenty of exercise a well trained dog is a well exercised dog. Good luck it gets better trust me.

I totally agree with doglover8's recipe for a cure:

"you must fix this now , your responsibility to this puppy .
First off no tug toy games this is the #1 cause of this behavior.
The puppy should have a leash and collar on in the house , then "set" the puppy up .
Walk by the puppy and when he goes to bite grasp the leash close to where it connects to the collar and in a stern voice say no! and tug on the lead.
DO this over and over now! "

This is exactly what I would/have do/done...

She's playing with you. Redirect her to something she is allowed to chew on.

Tell her no when she bites you. Give her a toy - a puppy nylabone is a good start. So is a small puppy kong. When she plays with those, praise her.

Always redirect to something appropriate and praise. And remember, she's a baby that doesn't understand English yet. It's going to take a little time. Puppies are a lot of work and this is just part of it. Hang in there and keep those other toys handy. I called the puppy nylabones pacifiers!

Good luck.

We have a 8 mth old Lab and he was really bad about this "play biting" as our trainer called it. She said he does this because that is what he did with his siblings and that is how they learned to play. He did not know he was hurting us. She said we had to show him it hurt. The answer was, everytime the dog bites you, yell "yip", or "ouch" and yell it loud. They need to know it is hurting you. Yell it loud and clear. Our lab stopped within a month or so completely and he is a wonderful dog now. We paid a one time fee of 25$ to a trainer for one hour of her time answering our problems about our dog. It was the best money we ever spent on him.

you need to get controll of this problem before it devolopes into full blown aggression your dog is probally trying to play but its got to know your the boss be dominent

step 1 prove dominance next time it bites you flip it onto its back and gentally clamp its mouth shut say no in a firm voice tell it its bad and dont give it attention for a while you need to continue this so it knows no means no

people say its wrong tohit a dog but sometimes you have to .

i wish you luck disapline is very important.

put some vicks vapor rub on your feet or on the edge of the pants, also bitter apple spray. Your puppy thinks you love the game...so get a rope that doesn't splinter, and play tug-o-war that may help him satify his need to tug. be patient he will out grow it all...

she's teething. buy her chew toys. buy ones that you think will last and inexpensive ones. she will probably chew through them as soon as you give them to her. good luck with the furniture
