Tinnitus is the name for noises in your ear(s) or head.
Many things can cause it or make it louder:
… some are easily treated, such as ear wax or middle ear fluid;
… some conditions require maintenance, such as high blood pressure and diabetes;
… some might be more serious disorders of the inner hear or nervous system, such as noise damage, Meniere's Disease, migraine (with or without headache), or acoustic neuroma.

The only way to get an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment is to consult a physician, preferably an otologist (ear specialist). If it is determined that your tinnitus is not attributable to a treatable condition, then the only dietary supplement that has been researched and proven to help reduce tinnitus is ginko biloba. There are other products that make the claims, but they have yet to be studied.

The symptom (ringing in the ears) is called tinnitus.

Many people who experience this have an undersized nucleus acumbens (Fields) which regulates how sensory information flows from the thalamus to the cerebral cortex. This allows the brain to block out certain stimuli. An inability to filter out unnecessary auditory sensations can result in the ringing sound.

Tinnitus is a symptom (ringing in the ears). It could be caused by several things. Do you listen to music in headphones? Do you play the music loud enough while wearing the headphones that others around you complain? This could be causing a problem.

Do you grind your teeth or clench your jaw? Tinnitus can be a symptom of temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ).

Tinnitus is often associated with hearing loss. If you use an Ipod like music player you are apt to cause hearing loss without being aware of it. Many people, young and old, are facing severe hearing loss (and accompanying tinnitus) because of exposure to too-loud music. Not much can be done to 'cure' tinnitus but it can be helped with meditation, biofeedback and sometimes with hearing aids. See an audiologist to have your hearing checked and an ENT to rule out any physical issues.

This is called tinnitus and you should see an ENT doc to get it checked. Most of the time there is nothing that can be done about it and no cause. Once you have seen the ENT doc you will want to get your hearing checked by an audiologist.

To be answered by an ENT, a neurologist or possibly even a rheumatologist. And only after taking a complete personal and family history and examining you firsthand.

I've had it for nineteen years, and it was investigated by all three. I know what the diagnosis was for me, but only for me.
