At first I didn't love Him, but I owed Him. A big debt of gratitude for helping me, for literally saving me. But I wanted to know Him more, so I began to read, started actually using the ideas and 'rules' in my life, and found that the more I did, the more I really just loved Jesus. I mean, loved Him like a big brother or a good older friend, someone who is always full of good advice and a sincere desire to help you.

I had to quite trying to love myself, and focus my love on God. I have never known anything more perfect than the love I have now, for everything! Ever small and precious thing. The the sound of hubby snoring, which use to drive me crazy. Now I love it! I can sleep in peace next to him, realizing this is my gentle(?) reminder that he is next to me. I guess what I'm trying to say, you will know when you really love God, you don't have to worry about missing the signs.

Jesus' favorite way of explaining the love between man and God is like a little child and his dad, when there is a close, loving, and trusting relationship.
If we love God that much, so much that we do what He tells us to do (love our neighbor), then we truly love God. It isn't just lip service.

I know I love my Lord and God, because of the faith and trust I have in Him. If you can't say you have trust or a deep faith in the deity you follow, then it is time to change the deity or religion, in my opinion.

Is that; "how do you know When you really love God..."?
You get that same feeling that you had when you knew you loved Grandma or Grandpa. That warm, happy, fuzzy, glad, joyous, etc. feeling that we know as love. Except it can get a whole lot better than that.

You can tell that you love god when you learn to show compassion to everybody around you. Since god is in everybody, and you show compassion to everybody, the you love god.

You have to love your self, first, before you can love anything else...once you know love, you know God. Is that too religious of an answer? I don't know......LOL
