for someone who is young with no credit score but wants to start building their credit, what is a good way to start aside from a card with a cash deposit on it...? i thought these credit card companies loved giving credit cards to college students but so far i've been denied from american express and two dept. stores......i just want ot know if theres another option aside from putting a deposit down on one of those guarunteed cards.....

Realistically...No.

The bigger credit companies want to see that you can have credit and handle using it. To do that with no credit history you have to get a secured credit card (or one with a deposit) and even after that it'll take like a year to a year and a half to get good enough credit to get a real credit card.

you can try to go to http://www.creditcardmate.com they have all kind of cards for bad credit, no credit, any kind of cards you want to apply
