It would be a bad way to kill a cow, but hanging a beef is done after the animal is already dead. It is hung in a cool room , and aged 10 to 14 days to improve the taste.

ok, if you're speaking of hanging in the sense that a noose is used to kill a cow.........it isn't done. When they suggest that a cow tastes better when hung is when the cow is hanging after it gets killed and goes down a production line to get gutted and parted. The bleeding time is greatly reduced by hanging a cow, much like hanging venison after you shoot your deer. Repeat........cows are not hanged as a method of slaughter. Have a great night.

yes, we hang all our cattle so the blood doesn't pool. Before you kill the cow, they get scared and they start producing tons of testosteron and other hormones that make the beef tough and taste bad. Also, by letting blood pool you might get an iron taste. Also, we make sure our cattle are hung for about 15 days this helps tenderize the beef and makes it much better... though also more expensive.

Beef is hung after the cow is slaughtered. And yes it tastes delicious, the colour is deeper, the marbling is yellow instead of white. Fuller flavor. Fantastic!!

yes it tastes better because the meat after butchering is humg and some of the blood is drained and the meat doesn't have that wild taste. have you ever ate a steak at someone's house when they butcher? it has a strong taste. when you buy meat it is put on a plastic paper towel or something to catch the blood. if you keep it there in the fridge or put it on a plate your meat will start to smell or get spoiled after a few days. if you change the papertowel daily it drains the blood and your meat will last a long time and i beleive it has a better taste. try it when you buy hamburgermeat.

I believe that means after it is dead. It's just like wild meat once u've killed it u hang it for a few days then cut it up. It is true thought when meat is hung after it is dead it really brings out the flavor. But it has to be hung in a real cold place or it will go rotten.

No, because the cow is already dead and carved up, before the meat is hung. And expensive restaurants, especially in India hang the meat.

Cruel? give me a break. how do ya think all animals are slaughtered? Local turkey farm does that, that's how deer is done, It has to do with the flow of blood and ease of evicerating the animal. If bothersome, go veggie!
