I mean besides the major difference in belief about God's existence....were still all the same. I believe in God but I've met amazing people in my lifetime who are atheists, others who are unsure of what to believe and others who completely believe in God. For the most part, we accept our differences because there are so many more similarities between us. I'm hoping this is true for most people. Is it?

what i mean to say is that why do people question each other's religions with a disrespectful attitude? I always see on here questions like "have you ever seen this God of yours?" Why ask such a question if your intent is to just ridicule people about their beliefs?

I believe that such is possible. All it takes is a willingness to be open and mature while being respectful of the other.

Doesn’t mean that one agrees with their views on a given topic.

Doesn't mean that I have to attempt to convert them (since such is a work of the Holy Spirit - and that isn't listed as my name on my birth certificate).

Just means that I am to be what I claim to be and reflect it in my life and words.

Don’t always have success at it - but better than many I would think considering the wide diversity of friends that I have in my life. Because of this, I feel very blessed indeed.

I wish I could say yes. But I can't. We seem to be at opposite ends of the truth. Sorry. I don't believe in god and you do. That's a pretty fundamental difference. I am totally responsible for my actions - good or bad, right or wrong. Christians can always fall back on "it was God's will" or "the Devil made me do it". I can't abide such an answer. There's nobody out there to rescue me from poor decisions. I don't think I could ever get a Christian to agree with me on that one.

It´s because people dont want others to believe something that differs from their beliefs because they dont most likely understand them, and that is what makes them afraid. People are afraid of the unknown. It´s stupid, but people are stupid. I understand both christians and atheists. I myself have my own viewpoint of life that I´ve been made up for me and my life during my growth, which will probably change as I grow more and hopefully get wiser at least a bit. people should just let others believe what they want. live and let live.

It really annoys me off when Athiests claim to be tolerant, but then complain how stupid believers are in " wasting their time" on believing in a "myth" instead of science, I mean why would they care? I believe in god, but am not christian or something specific, and in the end it don't matter, we are all going to find out at some point what really happens when you die.

I am a mystical Christian and I've had some nice talks with some atheists. It seems to me that each human being is valuable and unique and we have something to offer each other. If we look for what to give and how to share, we don't have energy for focus on differences.

They do understand each other. The only problem is Christians theologically believe that Atheist shouldn't exist unless they are drummed into conversion.....and that is a conundrum.

There is no reason why we cannot understand each other.
I think you mean to ask: can we tolerate each other. Yes again but why do we need to mock and ridicule each other.?

Most of us atheists used to be Christians so we usually understand them. We just disagree.
