I just have to chuckle at the responses this question has received.
"He wasn't a Christian, he was a Catholic"
"He only pretended to be a Christian"
"Hitler, shmitler, he's been dead for 60 years, and isn't relevant any more"
These are probably the same people that have, at some time in their past, howled "YOU ATHEIST, DID YOU KNOW HITLER WAS AN ATHEIST TOO!?"
Being a believer is almost too easy sometimes. Take a fact, buff up some parts, twist some parts and hide some parts away, and the history of humanity and the Universe are exactly as you want them.

The person who said he was a strange mix of Christian and occult beliefs is correct.
He was raised Catholic but hated Catholics later on and for all those who don't understand the concept....Catholics ARE Christian. (It's not a matter of your opinion it's a fact) You may be interested in looking up exactly what a Christian is and the history of early Christianity. -- and the roots of the protestant religions.
People who deny what he was probably feel that those pointing it out are trying to place his beliefs on to the religion he followed which would be ignorant and misinformed. Hitler was evil regardless of his religious beliefs because we can all see that no religion would excuse what he did. (some people in a religion may but not the religion)
By the way, someone stating they are a certain religion doesn't make them a good member of it. And it doesn't mean everyone else in the religion is just like them.

Let me explain something to you, Nicholas....Hitler was as much a Christian as I am Madonna. Just calling yourself something doesn't make you that something. Do you understand. Hitler WAS NOT a Christian. He might have thought he was but he was also insane. If you go to a psychiatric hospital you will meet lots of people who think they are lots of things...and I can assure that they are not. Hitler was one of those people. And why in the world would you even attempt to try and prove that Hitler was anything other than completely cruel. A Christian isn't a Christian just because they call themself one...or simply because they attend church. A christian is someone who becomes one in their lifestyle; their actions, how they live their life. Now tell me, do you really think he was a Christian....UM NO. That's hilarious! I agree with you that he called himself a Christian but a Christian he was not. I'd rather gag myself with a solid gold boot than to read his book. LMAO
Thank you for giving me an opportunity to rant back to you.

You are right, it is not our place to judge who is a faithful Christian.
Clearly genocide except by the command of God as a worldly form of condemnation is wrong for God has commanded "love your neighbor" and "love your enemy" but Hitler felt that he was doing it as a means of protection and defense by eliminating any threats upon Christian evangelism and Nazi political agenda by Judaism and its followers and all other pagan religions.
In the same manner we are not to judge those responsible for the Inquisitions of the Middle Ages especially that of Spain which specifically targeted Jews, the fact that England removed the Jews from its nation in the early Middle Ages, the crusades which specifically discriminated against Muslims, the list goes on.
Though, it is clear that none of these things were the most righteous acts that could have been committed.

By the time he got around being the Hitler everyone knows and hates he was a different person than the one that wrote Mein Kamf. Even then he was leaning towards his mental illness. Some say he was possessed.

Hitler used the Christians. By saying nice things about them, by saying he was one of them, he hoped to gain their support---or at least dampen their opposition---to his policies.
If I went to Alabama, or many other places in America, and ran for local office, I could get elected just by out-Christianing the other guy. It wouldn't matter what programs I supported. All I'd have to do is convince people that I was a more fervent Christian than the other guy. And that wouldn't be real hard to do. I'd just tell them how I've been saved by Jesus Christ, the He's my Lord and Saviour. Would you believe it just because I said it? Well, that's all Hitler was doing.

Well, I figured he was more of a neo pagan, but be that as it may. Calling yourself Christian does not make you one. Being a Christian makes you one. Read the Bible and you will see a painful truth revealed.
Matthew 7:21-23 (New International Version)
21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
Hitler, like all would be rulers and politicians, claim anything to gain power and keep it. Many "Christian Kings" bent knee to get the Churches backing and lend legitimacy to their thrown.
So you will see I do not worry that Hitler or others claim Christ. Before he died I do not know what he did. Yes, he could have professed Christ before dying and received salvation. That is the best example of mercy I can think of, but I do believe it is unlikely.

As Adolf Hitler himself wrote in "Mein Kampf", "By defending myself against the Jew, I am doing the work of the Lord."

Calling yourself a Christian doesn't make you one. Hitler used Christianity, but was not a blood bought, Spirit filled follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. His antisemitism is as much evidence of that as anything. He was an antichrist. Are you a white supremacist?
