To answer that, I searched these sites:

http://haironline.edusoftmax.com/dye.html

Interesting stats and research. All blondes are not born as a blonde child. May have dark hair that lightens. A blond baby can be born into a dark haired family. About 75% of American women dye their hair compared in the 1950s where only 7% did so to cover Grey. Of those who color, 40% go lighter. There are various shades of blonde, yet only about 1.8% is actually born as a blonde. Then one can go red or blonde due to a health disorder where the body is in starvation mode. Starvation diets, or famine will trigger a severe protein deficiency, leading to the unintended color change.

I have some friends that had really dark brown hair when they were born and it turned blonde, but later turned to brown again. I'm a natural blonde & I was definitely born w/ very light blonde hair. It's darkened as I've aged but it's definitely still blonde.

Oh & one of my pet peeves are people that bleach their hair, let alone the ones that aren't careful with picking out the bleach & they end up with pink faces... gross. That and they're usually completely unaware of the fact that it;'s their hair dye that's making them look pink.

No, my best friend dyed her hair blonde when she was 12. There are very few blondes. My sister was born a redhead/brunette and is now so blonde--almost white! They predict in the future that there will no longer be blondes :[. -Rayna F.
