If they have a spot on their head (called King Charles's thumbprint) they can go anywhere in England. They are nice little dogs, but they seem to matt easily.

1. They get along well with other dogs and other animals. They must be thoroughly socialized, just as with any other dog breed.
2. They get "separation anxiety" very easily and they hate to be alone for even periods of time.
3. They do not get along well with young, clumsy children. They only like to be around older, more considerate children as young children can not help being clumsy. They could drop the dog or they could aggravate him by pulling his tail, hitting him etc.
4. They can take a while to housebreak as of their small size. All smal breed dogs take a while to housebreak due to their smaller organs.
5. They are pretty small and weigh only 10-20lb (5-10kg) when fully grown.
6. They have MANY health problems, many are genetic so please, when buying a CKCS, only buy from a reputable breeder who screens all their dogs before breeding.
7. Due to their small size and low exercise needs, they make great apartment/unit dogs.
8. They do not need much exercise and would do well with a small backyard.
9. Like many small breeds, they can live well past 15 years of age. The average life span of a CKCS is 10-14 years. With proper care, exercise and a high quality diet, they can live much longer.
10. Obviously, they need a lot of grooming. You must not let their fur matt as it will hurt the dog. Professional grooming is needed every few months to trim the fur.

Hope I helped you!

They are generally sweet and affectionate. Love to sleep under the covers and have a sense of protecting their families. A friend of mine has one who is nick named "the s-l-u-t" because she likes to go from one bed to another.
