Hopefully someone with medical interest, or very curious, can help me decipher this dilema that i can't find in my literature.

As 'droopy' said the lower four quadrants of the stomach. They are located right below the right and left rib cage (those are the two upper quadrants). The lower quadrants are located on the right and left side but below the belly button. So if you draw a cross using your belly button as the center you have the four quadrants. It can take up to five minutes on each side to hear any sound. If you are taking narcotic pain medications or just had surgery the sounds will not be present until the medication or anesthsia has worn off. Hope that helps.
